If you are thinking what to buy for a 2-year birthday for a boy, you can't go wrong with blocks, cars, trucks, and trains.

For blocks,
Lego Duplo Creative Cars is a good option. Boys love playing with blocks and also with cars.

Classic train gift is Thomas the Tank,
"Thomas & Friends: Thomas the Tank Engine & Spinning Harold" by Fisher-Price.

Another good option is
"Green Toys Airplane" or
"Green Toys Dump Truck" by "Green Toys". We received the dump truck from my son's auntie, and he loves putting small toys on the truck and play for a while. He plays with another dump truck and cars that he has, making roads and cars on the road.
For a nice classic book, there is
"Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? (Sound Book)" by Eric Carle. It is so popular that your might have the board book, but adding sound to the book would be very nice compliment to the book.

For a sound book, this is one that my son likes a lot. It is
"Baa! Baa! Noisy Peekaboo!" by DK Publishing. You can read and play peekaboo and discover which one of a few flaps has the animal underneath. Lift the flap and the book will make moooo sound and more.
