Buying baby products are easy, but when you have to check every product if they are free of BPA, nitrosamines, phthalates, PVC, lead and so on, it takes too much of you, especially when you have kids running around the house shouting "mom~" on your ears. When you buy a shampoo, soap or any baby products like diapers, diaper cream, baby wipes, it could be time consuming just to research which products are safe.
Then, I found ewg.org and goodguide.com that does the research for me and many other moms suffering from lack of time.
EWG created Skin Deep database to rate around 66,000 personal care products as of now July, 2013. Its mission is to use the power of information to protect human health and the environment. It rates 0-10 depending on the level of safety. The Babies & Moms section rates bubble bath, lotion, oil, powder, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, wipes, cradle cap treat and diaper cream.
GoodGuide provides the world's largest and most reliable source of information on health, environmental, and social impacts of consumer products. I liked GoodGuide because it has products that I buy. GoodGuide.com tries to rate and review products that make up 80% of the market, which means you are somewhat familiar with the products that you see on GoodGuide.com. It also has Babies & Kids section that allows me to know which baby products are safe, healthy, green & ethical products based on scientific ratings.
