Teaching Your Toddler about Relatives

Unlike old times, your favorite relative like grandma, grandpa, aunts and uncles, might live far way, few hours airplane rides away.  As the children comes to understand self and other at around age 2, they begin to connect names to people.  Grandparents visited your children and had great time, and your child seems to miss their grandparents.

When your child remembers the time when grandparents or aunts visited him, be sure to video chat with them to keep the memory of your relatives.  When J's grandparents visited, he started to say, "No way~" and joke with grandparents, saying, "No way~." After months passed, but whenever he has video chat with grandparents, he still remember the playing time and smiles saying, "No way~."

Another great way is to put photos of your relatives on the wall.  The photos should be leveled to his eyes, so that he can see and repeat their names. Also, make sure the family member is clear, not look and find who is inside the picture, kind of picture.
